AP Awning Strap
AP Awning Straps for RV Patio and Window Awnings
A pull strap is a small part, but it decides whether an RV awning is easy to open and close or a daily annoyance. AP has supplied the recreational vehicle industry with replacement parts since 1992, and its awning straps are part of a hook-and-loop line built for the way RV awnings are actually used. This page covers AP's focused lineup within the wider Awning Strap category.
Two Straps for Two Awning Types
AP's awning pull straps are sized for the two most common situations on a camper or motorhome: the large patio awning and the smaller window awning.
- Main/Patio Awning Strap, 96 inch (006-201): This 96" strap has a stay-open loop and fits A&E Dometic, Carefree of Colorado and Faulkner awnings. It is built from commercial grade nylon webbing and made in the USA.
- Window Awning Strap, 24 to 28 inch (006-202): The 28" nylon webbing strap has two extra loops for adjustments to 24" or 26". That adjustability lets one strap suit several window awning sizes.
What Sets AP's Design Apart
These straps are part of AP's Coil n' Wrap family. All joints are ultrasonically welded, not sewn, to give added strength and life. Sewn thread is often the first thing to fail on a strap that is exposed to sun, rain and repeated tugging, so a welded joint addresses a common wear point. The webbing is described as a durable nylon webbing that would not shrink out of sight over time, which matters because a strap that creeps up the awning roller becomes impossible to reach. AP also states that its straps last twice as long as traditional ribbon pull straps.
On the window strap, there is no need to disassemble the roller tube assembly on Carefree awnings, which makes replacement a quick job instead of a workshop project. Both straps carry a limited 1 year warranty.
Choosing the Right Strap
- Match the awning size: use the 96 inch strap for full-length patio awnings and the adjustable strap for window awnings.
- Confirm compatibility: both straps are intended for A&E Dometic, Carefree and Faulkner awnings. Check your awning manufacturer before ordering.
- Check clearance: the shorter adjustable strap suits windows where a longer strap would hang too low or drag.
- Replace before it fails: a frayed or shrunken strap is easy to swap, and a fresh one prevents struggling with a stuck awning.
Part of AP's Hook-N-Loop Range
AP's broader hook-and-loop family also includes cinch straps and hook and loop strips, which are handy for securing awning arms, cords and cables. To see everything the manufacturer offers, visit the full AP brand page, or browse other options on the main Awning Strap category page.
