Wells 2M1596 Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid, EVAP Purge Valve

The Wells 2M1596 is a vapor canister purge solenoid, also called an EVAP purge valve or canister purge valve. It is part of the evaporative emission system. It controls the flow of stored fuel vapors from the vapor canister into the engine so they can be burned instead of released into the air.
