Multi-Rate Technology:

Unlike linear-rate springs, each coil in these multi-rate springs is spaced differently to create a progressive, variable spring rate. Initially soft and compliant for the first couple inches of compression, the spring rate progressively increases as more force is applied. As the coils compress closer together, the bottom quarter of the spring coils eventually contact each other and become inactive, creating a stiffer spring rate under heavy loads or aggressive driving.
