Copeland 918-0038-02 Wrap-Around Crankcase Heater 240V 45W

The Copeland 918-0038-02 is a wrap-around style crankcase heater designed to provide critical compressor protection for refrigeration and HVAC systems. This 240-volt, 45-watt heater maintains optimal crankcase temperature during compressor off cycles.

Key Features:

• Keeps the crankcase warm during compressor off cycles to minimize refrigerant migration
• Limited wattage design helps avoid overheating and carbonizing of compressor oil
• Compression wrap-around design for easy installation
• 240V operation at 45W power consumption
• UL-Recognized for safety and reliability
• Rugged construction for long service life

When a compressor is not operating, refrigerant vapor migrates to the crankcase, and this migration accelerates when the compressor becomes colder than the evaporator, resulting in liquid slugging at start-up that can damage the compressor. In outdoor and rooftop units exposed to cold temperatures, oil can become so viscous that the compressor cannot develop proper oil pressure, which is why crankcase heaters are recommended for systems exposed to cold ambient temperatures.

This genuine Copeland replacement crankcase heater ensures reliable compressor operation and extends equipment life by maintaining proper oil viscosity and preventing refrigerant migration damage.
