How It Works:

Crankcase heaters are essential components that keep liquid refrigerant out of the compressor oil during off-cycles. By gently heating the compressor crankcase, this heater maintains oil temperature above the refrigerant condensation point, preventing refrigerant from dissolving into the oil. This ensures proper lubrication is available immediately upon start-up and protects internal bearings from excessive wear.

Installation Notes:

This wrap-around heater should be installed as low on the compressor shell as possible, either above or below the lower bearing pin welds. The heater must be wired to energize whenever the compressor is switched off. For initial start-up, the crankcase heater should be energized for a minimum of 12 hours prior to starting the compressor to prevent oil dilution and bearing stress. Proper grounding is required for safe operation.
