International Comfort Products 1172473 Waterproof Crankcase Heater 70W 480V

The International Comfort Products 1172473 is a waterproof crankcase heater designed for commercial HVAC compressors in packaged rooftop units. This essential component protects compressor longevity by preventing refrigerant migration into the compressor oil during off-cycles, particularly in cold ambient conditions.

Key Features:

• 70-watt power output for effective crankcase heating
• 480-volt three-phase electrical rating for commercial applications
• Waterproof construction for reliable outdoor operation
• Model designation CH254-3 for proper fitment identification
• Prevents refrigerant from condensing in the crankcase during shutdown
• Maintains proper oil viscosity for smooth compressor startup
• Protects against compressor damage from liquid slugging

This crankcase heater operates continuously when the compressor is off, keeping the oil temperature higher than the coldest part of the system. By preventing refrigerant migration and maintaining proper oil viscosity, this component helps avoid costly compressor failures and extends equipment service life. Essential for systems operating in variable temperature conditions or experiencing long off-cycles.
