US Mags: The Original American Custom Wheel Brand
US Mags carries one of the most storied legacies in the custom wheel industry. The brand's wheels trace their roots to the mid-1960s, when American racing legend Parnelli Jones and his childhood friend Art Hale Sr. founded the company to supply wide, performance-ready wheels for the booming muscle car and hot rod culture of the era. What began as a regional venture — retailed through Firestone stores and Parnelli Jones retail locations across the Western United States — quickly grew into a defining force in American automotive culture.
As Parnelli Jones shifted his focus toward managing race teams and expanding his retail chain, Art Hale Sr. took the wheel business in an ambitious new direction. He strategically acquired several smaller wheel companies — including Ansen Wheels, Rebel Wheel, Dan Gurney Racing Wheels, and a small Bay Area brand called American Racing — eventually building the largest custom wheel operation in the United States. By the time the company was sold in 1988, it was producing nearly 200,000 wheels per year.
The story didn't end there. Art Hale Jr., who had grown up in his father's wheel factories learning every aspect of production, later launched MHT Luxury Alloys and developed high-profile brands such as Foose, Niche, and DUB. In early 2010, he reacquired the US Mags brand and logo, reviving it with modern manufacturing technology while honoring its classic roots.
