Smittybilt HD Pivot Oversized Tire Carrier and Tailgate Reinforcement System

The Smittybilt HD Pivot Tire Carrier and Tailgate Reinforcement System is a purpose-engineered, heavy-duty solution for off-road and overland enthusiasts who demand more from their spare tire setup. Designed to directly combat the tailgate sag, flex, and rattles caused by oversized spare tires on stock setups, the HD Pivot line delivers structural integrity and long-term reliability without requiring permanent modifications to your vehicle.

Key Features:

• Monoblock aluminum construction paired with forged chromoly steel mounting brackets provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and lasting corrosion resistance
• Triangulated load distribution ties into factory tailgate and body tub hinge points using existing mounting holes — no drilling required
• Adjustable tire mount accommodates oversized spare tires and can be fine-tuned for height and backspacing, spreading load across multiple contact points to eliminate stress concentrations
• Single-action tailgate operation preserved — the pivot system maintains smooth, easy open-and-close function despite significantly increased load capacity
• OEM accessory compatibility — engineered to retain factory third brake light and backup camera functionality without modification
• Bolt-on installation uses existing mounting points; all necessary hardware and protective EPDM gaskets are included for a clean, rattle-free fit
• Optional accessory mounting points on select variants accommodate trail jack mounts, CB antennas, and tie-downs (accessories sold separately)
• 3-Stage Finish Treatment — dual-stage powder coating over an E-Coat process, acid-dipped inside and out to remove impurities before finishing, for maximum elemental resistance on and off the trail
• Compatible with OEM and select aftermarket rear bumpers that do not feature an integrated tire carrier, making it a versatile upgrade across a wide range of builds

By redistributing spare tire loads across a robust multi-point mounting system, the HD Pivot dramatically reduces wear on OEM hinges and hardware — preserving your tailgate's long-term structural health while keeping you fully equipped for demanding terrain. Each variant is engineered specifically for its target platform, ensuring a precise, rattle-free fit right out of the box.

The HD Pivot line is backed by the Smittybilt Advantage extended warranty, reflecting the brand's confidence in its products and commitment to keeping off-road enthusiasts on the trail. Smittybilt has been developing purpose-built four-wheel-drive accessories since 1956, and the HD Pivot Tire Carrier stands as a direct expression of that legacy — balancing real-world durability with everyday usability.
