Product Details

The Cometic C5273-023 is a high-performance multi-layer steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket engineered specifically for Chevrolet Generation 1 Small Block V8 engines. This precision gasket features a .023" compressed thickness and is designed to provide superior sealing and durability in demanding applications.

Key Specifications:

  • Compressed thickness: .023 inches (23 thousandths)
  • Bore size: 4.200 inches
  • Compatible with 18-degree and 23-degree cylinder heads
  • Valve pocketed bore design for high-lift cam and valve train clearance
  • Includes steam holes for proper coolant circulation
  • Multi-layer steel construction for maximum sealing and strength

Cometic MLS gaskets utilize multiple layers of stainless steel with specialized coatings to create a superior seal that withstands extreme cylinder pressures and temperatures. The valve-pocketed design accommodates aftermarket performance cylinder heads and aggressive valve train setups, while the steam hole configuration ensures proper coolant flow to prevent hot spots. Ideal for street performance, racing, and high-boost applications where reliability and consistent sealing are critical.
