Stabilus 027817 Gas Trunk Lift Support Strut

The Stabilus 027817 is a gas pressurized trunk shock designed to provide reliable support for trunk lid operation. This Lift-O-Mat gas spring is a hydropneumatic adjusting element consisting of a pressure tube, a piston rod with piston, and the corresponding end fitting. Nitrogen gas inside the spring keeps constant pressure against the piston surfaces to provide consistent lifting force.

Key Features:

• Gas springs have a defined speed profile and outstanding damping capacities that enable even heavy panels and doors to be operated with ease
• Simple snap-in installation design for quick replacement
• OEM-quality construction from Stabilus, the original equipment manufacturer
• Compact dimensions and flat spring characteristic curve
• Steel construction with zinc plating for corrosion resistance

This part cross-references to BMW part number 51248399087 and replaces worn trunk struts that no longer provide adequate support. When trunk struts fail, the trunk lid becomes difficult to open and may slam shut unexpectedly. Lift-O-Mat gas springs provide force assistance to ensure optimal counterbalancing and make light work out of opening and closing panels, restoring proper trunk operation and preventing potential damage to the trunk lid and hardware.
