Product Details

The Elkhart Supply LBS4816 is a trailer breakaway safety switch designed to automatically engage trailer brakes if the trailer becomes separated from the tow vehicle. This critical safety device features a 48-inch lanyard that connects to the towing vehicle.

Key Features:

  • 48-inch cable lanyard provides secure connection to tow vehicle
  • Activates electric trailer brakes automatically upon separation
  • Essential DOT-required safety equipment for trailers with electric brakes
  • Durable construction for reliable performance in all weather conditions
  • Easy installation with standard wiring connections

When the trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle, the lanyard pulls a pin from the switch, completing the circuit and applying full power from the trailer battery directly to the electric brakes. This brings the runaway trailer to a safe stop, protecting people and property.

Pretty quick to order just hope it’s all good

The part was advertised as Goodyear but Goodyear sold or divested its interest in Gatorback belts to Continental. The belt I received was a Continental Elite Poly-V Belt which is the same as the Goodyear Gatorback belt. Autoplicity needs to update its website. I contacted Autoplicity after placing the order when I found on another website that Goodyear no longer makes Gatorback and asked what belt I was going to be sent. Justine O, a Senior Production Specialist directed me to the generic Goodyear website which had nothing about Gatorback belts because they no longer make Gatorback belts... thank you Justine O, Senior Production Specialist for absolutely nothing! Bottom line, Autoplicity may, or may not have what you want... but one thing is for certain, their customer service is as useless as every other customer service you have ever dealt with!!!
