About Winters Performance Products
Few names in American motorsports carry the weight of Winters Performance Products. Born in the mid-1950s when Air Force veteran Vaughn Winter Sr. began rebuilding automatic transmissions at his kitchen table, the company grew from a grassroots passion project into one of the country's most respected driveline manufacturers. In 1958, Vaughn and his wife Madeline moved Winters Performance to their hometown of York, Pennsylvania — and the company has called it home ever since.
Today, Winters Performance is an industry leader known for producing high-quality transmissions, gears, and driveline components for NASCAR, sprint cars, street rods, and muscle cars. Their famous quick-change rear ends have been around since the 1950s, and the "live axle" sprint car rear end revolutionized circle track performance in the 1980s. That kind of heritage doesn't happen by accident — it's the result of decades of hands-on racing experience and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
Built for Racers, Trusted on Every Track
Winters racing products can be found in NASCAR Sprint Cup cars, dirt and pavement modifieds and late models, midget and dwarf cars, 305, 360, and 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, all the way to pulling tractors. Their quality products are distributed worldwide through a large dealer network. Whether you're prepping a dedicated race car or building a high-performance hot rod, Winters has the components to back up your ambitions.
The breadth of the Winters catalog reflects their deep roots in all things driveline. Racers who demand precise, repeatable gear changes trust Winters for their manual transmission shifter assemblies — components engineered for the rigors of competition, not just the street. On the rear of the car, Winters' expertise in gear ratios and torque management makes their differential ring and pinion sets a go-to choice for racers dialing in their rear-end setup. Proper lubrication is just as critical as the hardware itself, which is why Winters also offers purpose-formulated differential oil designed to protect high-load gear sets under race conditions.
Winters Performance began as a performance transmission builder and quickly expanded into a wide range of performance products for street and track. That expansion naturally includes transmission hardware: their automatic transmission covers and automatic transmission shifter cables reflect the same attention to detail and durability that made Vaughn Winter's original transmission builds legendary in the drag racing community.
A Family Business, A Racing Legacy
Winters quick change rear ends are built to handle the toughest conditions and most demanding tracks, giving drivers dependable performance lap after lap. With a long-standing focus on durability, precision engineering, and race-proven results, it is no surprise that drivers continue to choose Winters Performance for transmissions, gears, and high-strength driveline components. More than six decades in, Winters Performance Products remains a family-owned operation — proof that when you build parts that truly perform, the racing world takes notice and never looks back.
