Product Details

The Aftermarket 311-798-211 is a stock-style shift rod coupling designed to connect the shift rod to the transmission hockey stick mechanism. This essential transmission component is located under the access plate beneath the rear seat and serves as the critical link between the shifter and gearbox.

Key Features:

  • Connects shift rod to transmission mounting point
  • Absorbs vibrations from drivetrain to shift rod
  • Stock replacement design for reliable performance
  • Includes housing and rubber components for complete installation
  • OEM-equivalent fit and function

Applications:

  • VW Beetle/Super Beetle 1965-1979
  • Karmann Ghia 1965-1974
  • VW Bus Type 2 1968-1979
  • VW Type 3 Squareback and Fastback 1964-1974
  • VW Thing (181) 1969-1979

Over time, shift rod couplers can become worn and sloppy, resulting in poor shift quality and increased play in the shifter. This replacement coupling restores precise shifting action and eliminates excess movement in the shift linkage system.
