The COMP Cams Mutha' Thumpr CL96-601-5 is a high-performance hydraulic flat tappet camshaft and lifter kit designed specifically for Buick 400, 430, and 455 cubic inch V8 engines. This cam delivers an aggressive idle with excellent throttle response and strong mid-range power, making it ideal for street performance applications where maximum impact and sound are desired.

Camshaft Specifications:

  • Advertised Duration: 235° Intake / 249° Exhaust
  • Duration at .050": 212° Intake / 220° Exhaust
  • Valve Lift: .462" Intake / .454" Exhaust (with 1.5:1 rocker ratio)
  • Lobe Separation Angle: 115°
  • Hydraulic flat tappet design for reliable street performance
  • Recommended RPM range: 1,200-5,200 RPM

This camshaft produces a lopey, aggressive idle that's unmistakable, while still maintaining good vacuum for power brakes and accessories. The asymmetric lobe design with more exhaust duration creates the signature "thump" sound that gives this cam its name. Recommended for engines with 9.0:1 to 10.5:1 compression ratio, and requires aftermarket stall converter (2,200-2,800 RPM) and headers for optimal performance.
