Elgin Industries Engine Rocker Arms: OEM Expertise Meets Valvetrain Performance
When it comes to engine rocker arms, few names carry the weight of a century-long manufacturing legacy quite like Elgin Industries. Founded in Elgin, Illinois, and still family-owned and operated in the same town after more than 100 years, Elgin has grown from a small machining operation into a Tier 1 Original Equipment supplier — crafting the very parts that go into vehicles from Ford, GM, Stellantis/Chrysler, Mack/Volvo, and Navistar before those same designs reach the aftermarket.
What sets Elgin's rocker arms apart is the direct pipeline from OEM production floor to aftermarket shelf. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Elgin parts are also available to the aftermarket through their global warehouse network — the same parts they manufacture for Ford, Stellantis/Chrysler, GM, Mack/Volvo, and Navistar appear in their aftermarket catalogs. That means when you install an Elgin rocker arm, you're getting a component engineered to the same tolerances as the part that came off the assembly line.
A Rocker Arm for Every Build Level
Elgin doesn't take a one-size-fits-all approach to valvetrain components. Their rocker arm lineup is tiered to match everything from a stock daily driver to a full-race engine build:
- Stamped Steel Stock & Long-Slot Rockers: Elgin Industries high-performance stamped steel rocker arms are made in the U.S.A. and come in various ratios and heat treatment options. A long-slot design is recommended to avoid stud-to-arm contact in performance builds with higher-lift camshafts.
- Nitro Heat-Treated Rockers: In-house heat treat operations allow Elgin to offer rockers in a hardened “Nitro” version , boosting surface durability for demanding applications without changing the stock appearance.
- Black Ice Cryogenic Rockers: For the best in durability and wear resistance, “Black Ice” cryogenically frozen rockers are the choice for most racers — and both Nitro and Black Ice offer the “stock appearance” in classes where rules dictate.
- PRO-STOCK Stainless Steel Full Roller Rockers: Stainless steel construction and extra-large trunnions give PRO-STOCK roller rockers superior strength and increased durability while eliminating deflection at high RPM. Each part's full needle-bearing trunnion allows for increased horsepower and quicker response, and a large roller tip helps prevent wear.
- Roller Tip Rockers: To reduce wear and fatigue on the valve stem, a roller tip rocker arm is the correct choice for street performance builds seeking a step up from standard stamped steel.
Guide Rail Options & Application Coverage
Elgin manufactures stamped steel stock or long-slot rocker arms with stock or higher ratios, and guide rail options are available for Small Block Chevy applications along with roller tip versions. On the performance side, the PRO-STOCK roller rockers are available for a wide range of small- and big-block Chevrolet and Ford 302 and 351W engines. The PRO-STOCK range covers virtually any popular street or racing engine, as well as select high-performance marine and other specialized applications.
Quality Standards You Can Trust
Elgin has earned dozens of quality awards and received its certificates of registration to the IATF16949 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System — and has also achieved Ford Q1 Quality Certification. All Elgin components meet or exceed the specifications of the OEM equivalent. Whether you're refreshing a high-mileage engine or pushing the limits on a performance build, Elgin engine rocker arms deliver the precision and reliability that comes from over a century of American manufacturing heritage.
