The Earl's Performance 502ERL is a billet aluminum sandwich-style oil thermostat designed to facilitate rapid oil warm-up by routing oil through an external cooler only after it reaches optimal operating temperature. The unit installs between the engine's oil filter mounting boss and the oil filter itself, making it a clean, straightforward addition to any oil cooling system.

This thermostat features thermostatic bypass control that begins opening at 160°F (71.1°C) and reaches fully open at 180°F (82.2°C), ensuring the engine oil reaches proper viscosity quickly during cold starts before being directed to an external cooler. The black anodized billet aluminum construction provides excellent durability and corrosion resistance.
