The brake light switch is a critical safety component mounted above the brake pedal that serves multiple functions beyond illuminating brake lights. It also interfaces with push-button start systems, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control, transmission shift interlock, and cruise control systems. A properly functioning brake light switch ensures these essential systems operate correctly and helps prevent rear-end collisions by providing clear warning signals to following traffic.
