Product Details

The IAP 113611055CEC is a replacement rear drum brake wheel cylinder designed for Volkswagen Type-1 Beetle and Karmann Ghia models manufactured from 1958 through 1964. This hydraulic component is an essential part of the drum brake system, converting brake fluid pressure into mechanical force that pushes the brake shoes against the drum.

Key Features:

  • Direct replacement for OEM part number 113 611 055C
  • Fits either left or right rear wheel position
  • Compatible with swing axle rear end configurations
  • Mounts to the backing plate inside the rear brake drum
  • Includes bleeder valve pre-installed
  • Designed for 5-lug drum brake applications

This wheel cylinder connects to the master cylinder through the vehicle's hydraulic brake lines and hoses. When brake pressure is applied, internal pistons within the cylinder extend outward, forcing the brake shoes into contact with the drum to create the friction needed for stopping. Regular inspection and replacement of wheel cylinders is critical for maintaining safe braking performance, especially on vintage air-cooled Volkswagens.

Applications: VW Beetle Type-1 (1958-1964), Karmann Ghia (1958-1964)
